Kids Movement was a parent/caregiver - child class that uses play based programming to work on balance, coordination, flexibility, direction following and more. We used the BOSU balance trainer for the majority of our exercises, incorporating other equipment and movements as we go.
During class children worked on balance and coordination by performing different exercises both on and off the BOSU balance trainer. Work hand-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, balance, taking turns, and so much more all while creating a fun atmosphere for everyone. Examples of exercises we do in class are: marching on and off the BOSU, jumping on and off the BOSU, "swimming" and "flying" on our stomachs while on the BOSU, "climbing the mountain", swimming across the floor on our stomachs, bear walks on and off the BOSU, frog and bunny hops on and off the BOSU, plus so many more fun creative exercises. We always ended by laying down and looking at the stars!
FORMAT: Each class included a warm up game, center activity, core focus activity game and across the floor movement. Every week we will have a core focus area such as balance, coordination or flexibility. We always included these areas each week but more time will be spent in that area during it's focus week. Below you will find an example of each weeks focus. Week 1 - Balance Week 2 - Hand/Eye Coordination Week 3 - Flexibility Week 4 - Directional Movement (backwards, sideways, and forward) This program will run for 4 weeks with a 2 week break in between sessions.
