For today's post I wanted share with you a little about ourselves!Lisa is a Certified ACE Group Fitness Instructor, Licensed Zumba Fitness Instructor, Certified Youth Fitness Specialist and Certified Tabata Bootcamp Instructor. Lisa got her start in the fitness world in 2007 when she received her Zumba Fitness Certification. This was the start of a whole new era for her. In 2011 Lisa received her ACE Group Fitness Certification and has since been attending workshops of different formats and group fitness. In 2016 she became a Certified Tabata Bootcamp Trainer and has been offering virtual bootcamps for 2 years. She has a great passion for fitness and loves helping people through exercise and movement. When Lisa is not teaching fitness classes she enjoys spending time with her family. Hiking, camping and spending time outdoors are some of their favorite things to do together. Jordan D. Wardle is an owner of a fitness studio, “ Étude Fitness”, in Sandy Utah. She is a certified Barre instructor through American Barre Technique. And, is also certified through ACE ( American Council on Exercise) as a group fitness instructor, and nutritional specialist. When she’s not helping others become more happy, healthy versions of themselves, she is pursuing her other passion writing.

Have you ever been teaching a class and completely just forget what you are doing? I have! Take this Monday for example;I was teaching Zumba and a song came onto my playlist that I have done MANY times. Well...when it came on I 1. had no clue I actually put it on my playlist and 2. I managed to forget the entire routine :). I don't have a very good "poker face." My regulars knew right away when I had forgotten and sweet-fully tried to help me get myself together, I just couldn't get it right! Why am I telling you all this story? Because I would normally I would beat myself up about forgetting choreography but this night was different, I literally just had to laugh at myself the whole time. Was my face red? Yep sure was because I was slightly embarrassed for forgetting an ENTIRE song but I was OK with forgetting. There are many factors that play into this feeling one is having such amazing and understanding students. They didn't judge me one bit for forgetting, they laughed along with me and said it's been awhile since we have done that one! I had a new student in class and she even seemed to be understanding which is wonderful (I am always a little afraid of scaring off newbies if I am not spot on.) The other is we are HUMAN, we make mistakes and are not perfect. I have done that choreography and practiced it many times but Monday just wasn't my day for it. It is OK to make mistakes, it is how we handle those mistakes that matters. I could have stopped the song and started it over, started getting angry at myself, or anything else but instead I chose to just go with it. I managed to get through the rest of class with only a few minor blips that night. 10 years ago when I started teaching Zumba I would have possibly behaved differently after but over the years I have learned to be OK with these little blips and DO ME. I love teaching and that won't change ever, no matter how much I have "mom brain." Next time you find yourself in a situation where you something isn't going right or you mess up, take a step back and breathe. Look at yourself and what you HAVE done right with things and learn from it. Tonight I will go back and do that choreography again after doing a refresh of course!
