Equipment: BOSU Balance Trainer Gliding Discs Figure 8 Tubing I am so excited to start sharing some yummy recipes with you guys again! Today I want to share with you my chicken prep 3 ways! I love bulk prepping my chicken because it saves me so much time during the week and when I mix it up with different spices it makes for a more interesting selection during the week! This way my kids don't get too bored or used to one flavor or they can have an option to choose from! Today's 3 ways to prep your chicken will include Indian Inspired "Yellow" Chicken, Spicy Lime, and Lemon Pepper & Garlic! Before we get into the recipes lets take a look at the awesome benefits some of the spices provide! Who here likes garlic?
Garlic is my favorite spice. The key is to crush it and allow it to sit for about 5-10 minute so it releases its amazing property called allicin (you know that chemical that gives it the smell.) This provides many anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits for your body. Turmeric is another great anti-inflammatory. I recently learned that if you toast turmeric slightly before using it releases more of its great properties too! Turmeric contains curcumin which is a natural anti-inflammatory compound. You could also use turmeric as a natural food dye for yellow! Lemons are sour but provide a great source of Vitamin C, they add a tang to your meals or a boost to your water! Lemon is a natural antioxidant; antioxidants help remove free radicals from our body. It is a great essential oil to diffuse to the smell as well as properties. Plus its a great cleaner - natural degreaser anyone? Now onto the yummies!
Check out these videos with different progression options for push ups! There are so many ways you can do push ups, these are just a few. Key Tips: Always be sure to have a nice straight line running down your spin (no chin to chest action) and your core engaged. Shoulders should in line with your thumbs and your focus should be down. When doing a kneeling push up, you are not directly on your knee caps, make sure you are just above on the quads. DO WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR LEVEL! Variations Shown: Wall Chair Kneeling Full BOSU
Are you ready to push up? Check out this clip from my last virtual group I did (14 Days to a Healthier You.) Strength and Stretch - Set to music in counts of four for each move, similar to our FLOWs and our they are counted. This makes it a little more challenging and concentrated. When you have fun music to go along with though it makes for a fun challenge! Things to keep in mind when doing these exercises. GO AT YOUR FITNESS LEVEL! Push ups can be done in many different ways (check back next week for that blog post) and can easily be modified. When doing a kneeling push up be sure not to put any pressure on your actual knees. Keep your position just above the knees near the quadriceps. Be sure to keep a nice straight line down your spine and your focus between your hands. For the dolphin push up you are leading with your head and your spine should still remain aligned all the way up. Don't tuck your chin. As with any new workout routine be sure to consult with a physician before starting. Give this a shot and let me know what you think. |
